For some wealthy buyers, the golf club is the new ski lodge. While slopeside homes have long been considered the pinnacle of luxury mountain living, a number of affluent homeowners are now choosing pricey golf communities in ski towns instead, seeking access to mountain homes with year-round activities. Meanwhile, as public resorts grow crowded, these clubs offer an escape through members-only ski lodges and concierge services.
Ski-in, ski-out homes will always trade at a premium, but the gap between ski and golf is narrowing, says Chris Messick of Summit Sotheby’s International Realty in Park City. “If skiing is your big driver for purchasing property, you still have a good chance of ending up at a golf community,” he says.
